Franklyn

For Franklyn, I stayed out past my bed time. At first I thought that was the reason that everything on screen appeared to me the way those weird dreams or images come when I am floating between hitting snooze on the alarm clock. I shared enough sideways glances with Drew to realize that I wasn’t the only one fairly disappointed in the central plot. The well designed advertisements, and even the movie’s trailer, were enough to convince us that the film was worth seeing. Rather than a solid piece of art however, Franklyn is a lovely film of picturesque London the way it might appear in a graphic novel – with the insertion of characters and odd bits of conversation.

While some of the ideas presented are intriguing, it is unfortunate that no loose ends are tied for the desperate audience. Any enjoyment derived from this seeing this flick are directly related to the imagery, make-up, and costume. View at your own risk.
